Kayaking on the Potomac
Join us for a kayaking adventure, and explore the serene waters of the Potomac River while taking in stunning views of the nation's capital. Whether you're a seasoned paddler or new to kayaking, this activity promises fun and relaxation for all skill levels. Slots are limited, so purchase a ticket now to secure your spot on Saturday, May 18th, at 3:00 PM!
Sign up for 1 - 2 hours based on how much time you'd like for dinner and to get ready for the Gala that evening!
Parking and public transportation directions to the Key Bridge Boathouse can be found on their website (scroll down to "Directions & Travel"), and here it is on google maps. No worries if you show up a little late -- they should be flexible.
If you have your own kayak, feel free to park at any nearby convenient location and access the river from any permitted entry point.
There is no separate sign up sheet for this activity, but many people have expressed interest in it, so keep a lookout for others with wristbands!
National Gallery of Art - Docent Led Tour

Find directions on their website and meet at the Mercury Fountain in the Rotunda of National Gallery of Art West Building at 3:00 PM.
DC Scavenger Hunt (sign up)
Embark on an exciting scavenger hunt through the heart of Washington, DC, with fellow Conference attendees! Test your knowledge and observation skills as your team searches for hidden gems and iconic landmarks near some of the most visited areas downtown. We guarantee you haven't seen some of these places right under your nose! And you know the saying "Pic or it didn't happen"? That's right, you will submit evidence of your findings and compete for the team that finds the most. Get ready for an adventure you won't soon forget!
Meet at 2:30 PM in the chapel to receive more instructions! Diana Sargent will be leading this event!

Pickleball (sign up)
Join us for exhilarating pickleball play at Fort Scott Park! Courts will be reserved from 2:30 - 5:30, with main organized play between 3:00 - 5:00. Compete against fellow participants in this fun and fast-paced game while enjoying the natural surroundings of the park. Space is limited, so make sure to secure your spot by signing up on our spreadsheet. Rules of the competition and teams will be explained at the courts. Get your paddles ready for some friendly competition and a memorable experience! We will try to have some extras available, but please bring paddles and balls where possible.

Nature Walk in the Rock Creek Park (sign up)
Explore the natural beauty and rich history of Rock Creek Park on a nature walk through this iconic landmark. Immerse yourself in lush greenery, serene trails, and breathtaking vistas as you discover hidden gems and historical sites. This leisurely hike offers the perfect opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy a rejuvenating outdoor adventure. Lace up your sneakers and join us for an unforgettable journey through one of Washington, D.C.'s most beloved treasures!
Specifically, we'll walk the Boulder Bridge Loop, which starts and ends at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center and Planetarium. Meet at the nature center to start walking by 3:15 PM. This is a 3.0-mile loop trail, and generally considered an easy route. It typically takes about 75 minutes to complete. If you'd like to, you can check out the planetarium afterwards.

DC Donut and Pastry Tour (sign up)
Embark on a delightful culinary adventure with a self-guided DC Donut and Pastry Tour! Meet at the church courtyard by 2:30 PM to travel by metro together with a conference committee member, Adam Montie, or meet at the SW corner of the 14th & I St., NW metro entrance to McPherson Square Station by 3:15 PM, to kick off your journey. Indulge your taste buds in the delightful flavors of Washington, D.C. as you explore the city's finest bakeries and pastry shops. At each stop, you'll have the opportunity if you'd like to purchase a doughnut, pastry, or something savory to enjoy.
We identified several shops within walking distance to enjoy at your own pace. The suggested walking route covers approximately 2.3 miles in total hitting 6 bakeries, but feel free to go in any order or finish early if you'd like. After your culinary adventure, you'll find yourself conveniently located between the Mt Vernon Sq 7th St-Convention Center and Gallery Pl-Chinatown metro stops, perfect for your next travels.

Join us for an informative, fun, and delicious culinary experience at our small group cooking class, hosted in the chapel overflow at the church building, starting at 2:30 PM! Limited spaces are available for this exclusive event, where participants will have the opportunity to learn new culinary skills under the guidance of our skilled instructor, Kelly Maurer. You'll have the chance to prepare and sample sweet and savory gnocchi made by Chef [insert your name 🧑🍳]. Plus, there will be valuable nutrition tips provided by a professional nutritionist, Ali Essig.

Unleash your creativity and join us for a small-group painting class, a delightful Saturday afternoon activity! Under the guidance of a talented artist, you'll explore various painting techniques and create your masterpiece in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. No prior experience is necessary—all skill levels are welcome! Supplies will be provided, so just bring your enthusiasm and artistic spirit. Sign up to reserve your spot in this limited group starting at 2:30 PM upstairs in the Relief Society room, and come join us for an afternoon filled with laughter, inspiration, and the joy of painting!

Join us for an afternoon of fun and games at the church building upstairs in the primary room between 2:00 and 4:00 PM! Unwind and socialize with fellow attendees as you enjoy a variety of card games, board games, and party games. This informal gaming session offers the perfect opportunity to relax and connect with others in a casual and enjoyable setting.

This activity will not have a committee member leading it, but you can look out for other people with conference wristbands! If 10+ people arrive at the same time, you can receive a large-group discount. We suggest meeting at the entrance at 3:00 to help potentially facilitate that; however you can arrive and enter at any time, and you can also purchase tickets in advance here.
